Fall 2010 eBook Publishing Schedule

We have finalized the publication dates for ebooks this fall. Following the recent publication of In The Hands Of Time in August 2010, we be publishing two additional early novels of Ainy Rainwater: Miasma, a horror novel is scheduled for publication Sept. 27 and The Malice Plant on Nov. 8. The books should be available in at least one online store on those dates, though we cannot guarantee immediate availability everywhere at that time.

Look for additional details on these upcoming releases in the near future.

In The Hands Of Time ebook is now available in the Amazon.com US Kindle Store for $4.99 and UK Kindle Store for £3.68. As the description has not yet been processed, it is repeated below. The ebook will also soon be available in Barnes and Noble and Borders online stores. Look for our ebook publishing schedule for the rest of the year to be posted next week. The availability of In The Hands Of Time on Amazon.com has brought our free pre-release offering to an end. We were very gratified by the interest generated in our first ebook offering. There’s more to come!

When Jason Chenault lands at the remote spaceport of Zan, his only concern is finding a replacement crewman for his two-person ship and getting his next mapping assignment. We are launching our ebook venture with the back catalogue of Ainy Rainwater, also known as the musician, Gymshoes. The first book is now available free from this site for a limited time prior to publication.It is available in EPUB format which is rapidly becoming the industry standard. EPUB files are compatible with most ebook devices and software (see Comparison of ebook formats, hardware). If you do not have a dedicated ebook device (or you have a Kindle which is the only device on the extensive aforementioned list which doesn’t read EPUB), you may use Adobe Digital Editions computer software or the EPUBReader add-on for the Firefox browser. Ebooks are made available here at our sole discretion and may be removed at any time.

Idiolith is presently working toward the release of novels by Ainy Rainwater, better known as the Idiolith artist, Gymshoes. Works will eventually include fiction, non-fiction and poetry, some of which hasn’t been previously published in any form and all of which is currently out of print. Initially ebooks will be free downloads from this site, in a variety of popular formats for reading on your computer, smartphone, IPad or dedicated ebook reader.

A new Gymshoes EP, Sand In My Shoes, will also be released within the next month or so.

With the entry into ebook publishing with musician/authors, Idiolith hopes to eventually forge connections between the music and books as technology and material permit.

Gymshoes Music available in two more stores

Gymshoes’ music is now available from iTunes Mexico (in addition to a number of other international iTunes stores) and all albums have been added to Myspace Music as well. In the case of myspace what this means is that for the first time all songs—including the very long ones—can be streamed in their entirety from the music player on the Gymshoes profile. The default view is still featured songs uploaded by the artist (which may contain unreleased material); those tracks will change periodically. All songs (which have been released) can be streamed and purchased by accessing them through the Albums tab at the bottom of the player. Enjoy the music.

Halloween Soundscape

This is the first year Halloween Soundscape is available in multiple online stores. It’s now available from iTunes, Rhapsody, Amazon mp3 and Napster. Full tracks can be streamed in the sidebar widget, or on the artist’s Facebook page. A new video spotlighting “The Witching Time” is now up on YouTube.

A Tropical Depression now widely available from online stores

If you LOVE Halloween and need some REAL mood music, if your brain is about to squish through your eyes from hearing the CLASSIC “Monster Mash,” just one more time, if you want something that’s going to scare the hell out of you AND anyone who arrives unsolicited at your front door, then look no further!

Our one and only Gymshoes, curator of [our] always-up-to-date and wildly detailed [Run Devil Run] fansite has created some of THE Best Halloween music my aficionado ears have ever heard. I’ve browsed endlessly through dozens of internet radio stations only to be disappointed by kitschy, crappy versions of songs I didn’t want to hear in the first place. Halloween Soundscape: music for the spooky season

As the autumn shadows lengthen and Halloween draws near, treat yourself to some spooky ambient music for the occasion. This is not some cheesy sound effects album, but an eerie ambient soundscape suitable for unsettling trick-or-treaters and wowing party-goers. Pipe it outside or play it inside, Halloween won’t be complete without this soundtrack. (It’s also good background music for reading scary books!)

Tracks on the CD are mixed so that the tracks flow seamlessly into one another (with the exception of the final track, “The Martian Invasion” which is separated from the others by a few seconds). Most of the album can be previewed during the month of October on Gymshoes myspace page.

Download Benefits Red Cross

I’ve added A Tropical Depression to the store interface. Profits from the sale of those songs will benefit the American Red Cross. I talked to Buzz (who sings on two of the tracks) and he was enthusiastic about the idea. Three of the songs were written right after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the other was done right after the Indonesian tsunami, so releasing the songs for sale to benefit a disaster relief organization is very much in keeping with what moved me to write the songs in the first place. The recent flooding in the midwest has strained the Red Cross’s resources; the disaster is being compared to the devastation of hurricane Katrina. The Red Cross has said it needs $35 million to meet the needs of that disaster alone—and we’re not even halfway through hurricane season.

Even if you already have the songs—please tell everyone you know—and donate to the Red Cross. Let’s make a difference.

The store interface is now open for business. At present it’s on both the homepage and the Music page. Because much of Gymshoes’ back catalogue is available free, those albums and EPs which have free tracks in the track listing are being sold as complete albums. You aren’t paying for anything that’s free online. Instead you can download the whole album bundle for just the price of the 1-3 songs which are for sale. Doing it this way makes it cheap, easy and convenient for people to get the music.

MyMusicBlaster has a customer affiliate program which allows you to put this interface on your website, blog, myspace profile, or Facebook profile. They’ll pay 5% of all sales from affiliate interfaces, so spread the music!

Our first CD release

The Halloween Soundscape album, which had a limited online release last fall, will be released on CD February 29th by Idiolith in conjunction with Independent Records. It features a new track, “Loup-Garou” which was composed especially for the CD. It’s available for purchase online through the Gymshoes shop. We made the decision to offer it through the Gymshoes shop because Halloween Soundscape, Gymshoes, and the shop are at present better known than Idiolith. The “off-season” release may seem a little odd, but it’s the follow-up to last fall’s limited release and the beginning of what we hope will be a wider release this fall.

Idiolith Shop Opens

The Idiolith Shop @ Cafepress is now open! We’ve got 5 styles of tees for both men and women, featuring the Idiolith logo. The full color logo is available on a selection of dark colored tees (including black). Light tees have a black-and-white line drawing rendering of the logo artwork. A 3 x 5 sticker is also in the shop. There is currently no markup on the merch, so we benefit only in the sense that your purchases gets our name out there. Click the thumbnails to see what the t-shirt artwork looks like.

(And yes, we realize it’s odd to have merch before we have any music product. The music is coming soon!)

Idiolith is up and running

The Idiolith website is now up and running. I know there’s not much here yet, but we’ve settled on a theme, customized it and are setting up a few things behind the scenes right now. We should be ready to, er, rock in the very near future.
